Ellis "Big L" Mason

Mr. Ellis “Big L” Mason, age 59, passed away at his home in Clinton on Friday, September 17, 2021.  Visitation will be held 12pm-1:30pm Friday, September 24, 2021 at Lena Baptist Church.  Services will follow at 1:30 at the church with NO graveside services.  Bro. Ken McLemore will officiate the services.  Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.

Ellis was born in Leake County on August 21, 1962.  He was honored to have served in the Military.  Ellis was trained as a small engine mechanic and worked on boat motors.  His career was a truck driver, and he worked for Merchant Trucking then 17 years with Conway Trucking.  Ellis participated in driving competitions and won many times and he was very proud of those  honors.

Ellis especially loved spending time with his family and friends.  Growing up, one of his favorite things to do was playing softball with his buddies.  He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing and watching western movies.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Betty Opal Wallace Coward; grandparents, Ellis and Louise Wallace; brother-in-law, Jamie gilbert and niece, Jamie Lynn Gilbert.

He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Melinda Mason of Clinton; daughter, Kristen Mason (Connor Clayton) of Clinton; sisters, Tammy Gilbert of Lena, Twyla Pope (Bubba) of Ackerman and Teresa Leamond of Philadelphia; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
