Elma M. Lawrence Miller, 91, passed from this life on Monday, February 9, 2015, while residing at Lakeland Nursing Home in Jackson. Visitation is 10:30 am Friday, February 13, 2015 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon. Services will follow at 12 noon at the funeral home with interment in Gulde Cemetery. Rev. Michael Cooper will officiate.
Mrs. Miller was born on May 30, 1923 to Louise Clark Lawrence and Vance Lawrence in Gastonia, North Carolina. She was married to Burl Atkinson Miller until his death on August 18, 2009 and they resided on their cattle farm in Pelahatchie until she entered Lakeland Nursing Home in Jackson. Mr. and Mrs. Miller were members of Brandon Assembly of God for many years and was a music teacher for over 50 years, beginning her music career in Mobile, Alabama.
Mrs. Miller is preceded in death by her parents, Louise and Vance Lawrence; sister, Edith; brother, Fred; husband Burl and one son Jimmy. She is survived by her three sons, Dewey Burl Miller and wife Shirl of Brandon, Harold Leon Miller and wife Judy of Brandon and Ronald Eugene Miller and wife Lisanne of Canton. Jimmy Lamar Miller’s wife Margo resides in Panama City, Florida. She also leaves behind her loving grandchildren, Hank Miller and wife Tracy, Molly Miller, Shawn Miller, Joshua Miller, Misty Miller Campbell, Nikki Miller, Michelle Miller, Alicia Miller, James Miller and many wonderful great grandchildren.
While her family mourns her death, we also celebrate the reunion in heaven with her loved ones and her Heavenly Father.
