Mrs. Elinor (Elna) Wells, age 91, went home to be with her Savior on February 26, 2022 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. Her visitation will be Monday, February 28 from 9:30am – 11:00a.m. at Ott & Lee in Brandon, with Chapel services immediately following. Reverend Steve Wilson and Reverend Tyrone Wells will officiate. Burial will follow at Brandon Memorial Gardens.
Elna was born July 24, 1930 in Montgomery County, MS. She was a longtime resident of Rankin County. She was a member of Meadow Grove Baptist Church since its inception as Value Mission and was actively involved until her health no longer allowed. Elna was raised in a Christian home and remained in the Baptist faith all her life.
Elna’s career was in food service as a dietary manager for several nursing home facilities in the Brandon and Jackson area. She will also be remembered dearly for her years of service to Rankin County Schools as a bus driver for 45+ years and the dynamic effect she had on so many children.
Elna always enjoyed feeding, taking care of, and keeping every family member warm. She loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and was always available for any act of service. Everyone she knew experienced her great compassion.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, T. C. Wells, her parents, two brothers and one sister. She is survived by children, Cecil Wells (Kathleen), Rita Wells, and Richard Wells (Ouida), 8 grandchildren, Kelly Wells (Ryan Spearman), Marcy Wells, Morgan Wells (Amy), Clark Wells, Cecily Wells, Wallace Wells, Brad Wells (Christina), Melissa Stevens (Daniel), 7 great grandchildren, Rylee, Reagan, Rori, Elizabeth, Abigail, Hunter and Liam.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Meadow Grove Baptist Church Building fund.
