Elsie Barlow Traxler entered Heaven on April 4, 2015. Funeral services will be held at Southside Assembly of God Church, 665 Raymond Road, Jackson, MS on Wednesday, April 8 at 10:30 a.m. with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow in the Terry Cemetery, Terry, MS.
Elsie was born November 1, 1932 to Roy and Irene Barlow. She graduated from Florence High School. Elsie married John Billy Traxler on December 31, 1952, and they had three sons. She was a homemaker most of her life and always active in PTA at her sons' schools as well as several civic organizations. Although very ladylike, she enthusiastically joined her family and friends at deer camp, fishing trips, horse shows and golf outings while always keeping her home neat and tidy. She and John also enjoyed potluck dinners and game nights with their friends. After raising their three boys, John retired and they moved to Bella Vista, Arkansas, for nearly 14 years where they enjoyed the outdoor life and made many new friends in their church, on the golf course or on one of the mountain lakes. While in Arkansas, Elsie worked as an assistant in the Real Estate Department of Wal-Mart headquarters in Bentonville, AR. She and John returned to Jackson to be closer to family and grandchildren.
Elsie was an active member of Southside Assembly of God where she sang in the choir, served on various committees and volunteered as a greeter. She attended Southside before and after her time in Arkansas. Her church and her family were the joys of her life.
She was preceded in death by her precious parents and her beloved husband. She is survived by her sons, Kendall (Lynda), Keith (Connie) and Greg (Holly); grandchildren, John Wesley Traxler, Maggie Traxler, Jordan Warren and Devin Traxler; her sister Dee Beasley (Bobby) (Rogers, AR) and brother Paul Barlow (Linda) (Vicksburg, MS), several nieces and nephews, and many cherished friends.
The family would like to express gratitude to the wonderful people at The Orchard/Rose Garden and Hospice Ministries who helped them love and care for Elsie during her last months.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Hospice Ministries, 450 Towne Center Blvd., Ridgeland, MS 39157.
