Emily D. Bailey, 80, died Sunday, May 12, 2013 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, MS. Visitation will be Monday, May 13, 2013 from 5 until 8 pm at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon and Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at 10 am at Star Baptist Church, Star, MS. Funeral Services are 11 am Tuesday at Star Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Star Cemetery.
Emily Jewel Davenport was born on July 30, 1932 in Hermanville, MS to her late parents, Jessie B. Davenport and Florence Nelson Davenport. She married Alvis B. “Buddy” Bailey on April 29, 1955. She retired in 1995 as Data Entry Operator at the Mississippi State Highway Patrol where she had worked for 21 years. She was a member of Star Baptist Church in Star, MS.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Hettie Florence Davenport and her brother, Henry Davenport.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Alvis B. “Buddy” Bailey; her daughter, Suzanne Bailey; her son, Ray Bailey and wife, Cindy all of Brandon, MS; three sisters, Martha Oswalt of Florence, MS, Elizabeth Owens of Terry, MS, and Pat Bozeman of Florence, MS; three brothers, Jessie Davenport, Jr. of Hermanville, MS, Joe Davenport of Florence, MS, and Kenneth Ray Davenport of Vicksburg, MS; and four grandchildren, Kara, Karley, Kellie, and Kristen Bailey all of Brandon, MS.
