Emma Thompson, age 91, a resident of Morton passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2013 at her residence. Visitation was held 4-7pm Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton. Funeral service was held 2pm Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at the Ott & Lee Chapel in Morton with burial in Morton Memorial Gardens. Rev. Donnie Denton officiated the services. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.
Mrs. Thompson was born in Simpson County on October 14, 1922. She was known as mamaw to everyone and loved to feed the birds, work in her flower gardens and go fishing. Mrs. Thompson loved her family and her dog, Brownie, very much and will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert Lowrey Boggan and Eliza Jane Sinclair Boggan; husband Clyde C. Thompson; 2 sisters, Virgie Berry (her twin sister) and Lizzie Dixon; 2 brothers, C.B. Boggan and Clifford Boggan; 3 step sons, Clyde Arnold Thompson, Donald Thompson and Wesley Thompson; 2 grandchildren, Eddie Thompson and Machelle Hall Easterling.
She is survived by her 3 children, Jackie Denton (Dalton) of Morton, Janie Hall (Belton) of Morton and Nellie Gray of Morton; sister, Georgie Vickers of Pearl; 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers were Daniel Hall, Dusty Hall, Dwayne Thompson, David Gray, Mark Denton, Clay Denton and Scotty Thompson.
Memorials may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society.
