Erbie H. Massengill, 77, of Brandon, Mississippi passed away at his home on August 6th, 2024.

Mr. Erbie Massengill was born August 30th, 1946, in Corinth, Mississippi to Erbie Eldridge Massengill and Ella Frances McCrory Massengill. He attended Alcorn Central High School from 1962 – 1965 and graduated in 1965. He married Pamela Carol Sellers Massengill on July 22nd, 1966, and together they had three children. 

Erbie worked at Pruet Production Co. and RAPAD Drilling and Well Servicing Company, Jackson, Mississippi as corporate pilot and Vice President of Safety before retiring in 2016. Erbie worked with the Association of Energy Service Companies as an officer.

Erbie has always had a passion and love for aviation and flight. He held a FAA private and commercial aviation license. He was enlisted in the United States Air Force where he was a chief mechanic on F-4D fighter jets. He joined the Mississippi Air National Guard where he served as a flight engineer on C-130 and C-141 cargo aircraft. These activities in his career allowed him to pursue his passion and love while serving others.

Erbie has been involved with serving others as an elder, deacon and Bible class teacher most of his life. Erbie and Pam serve and worship presently at North Brandon Church of Christ. Erbie would serve the congregation members and the community with charity and compassion for others showing Christ-like traits in every interaction.

Erbie was involved with amateur radio aka HAM radio during his retirement. He was a member of ARRL, American Radio Relay League; CMSARA, Central Mississippi Amateur Radio Association; JARC, Jackson Amateur Radio Club; and SCARC, Scott County Amateur Radio Club. Erbie served as a member and officer in many of the club activities and emergency preparedness events.

Mr. Erbie H. Massengill was preceded in death by his father and mother, Erbie E. Massengill and Ella Frances McCrory Massengill; his brothers, Joe Massengill, Jerry Massengill; his sisters-in-law, Dorothy Jones Massengill and Sandra Massengill; his nieces, Angela Suggs and Melissa “Lisa” Jo Massengill; and his nephew, Michael Massengill.

Mr. Erbie H. Massengill is survived by his precious loving wife of 58 years, Pamela Carol Sellers Massengill; his sons, Joseph Brandon Massengill (Gina McClain Massengill), Aaron Kelly Massengill, and Daniel Patrick Massengill; his brother, Alan Kent Massengill; his nephew, Ben Massengill; his nieces, Jennifer Williams and Kim Massengill Holmes; and his grandchildren, Mattie Massengill and Samuel Massengill. Erbie also has 12 great grandchildren.

We would like to thank all the caretakers, doctors, nurse practitioners, nurses, ministers, church friends, amateur radio friends, and neighbors that have supported, visited and ministered to Erbie and Pam.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 8th, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the North Brandon Church of Christ (1029 MS-471, Brandon, MS 39042). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 8th, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 9th, 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Corinth National Cemetery (1551 Horton St, Corinth, MS 38834).
