Mrs. Erika Susann Fischer Harrell, age 45, a resident of the Branch Community passed away after a long battle with cancer on Monday, January 9, 2017 at her residence. Visitation was held 5-8pm Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton and 8:30am -10am Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Ott & Lee Morton. Services were held 11am Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Branch Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Bro. Paul Smith officiated the services. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.
Erika was born in Evansville, Indiana on January 7, 1972. She participated in several cancer walks and her family laughed and stated that Erika would out walk them. Erika enjoyed writing literature and drawing in her colorama books. She was a member of the Leesburg- Liberty Volunteer Fire Department and it brought her great joy to be able to help others. At the graveside there was a very touching last call for Liberty #841. She loved her family and her granchildren very much and will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Sheila Tucker Fischer; daughter, Elizabeth Renee Harrell and sister, Heather Bingimer.
She is survived by her husband, Chris Harrell of the Branch Community; father, Charles Fischer of Indiana; children, Justin Edwards (Marlee) of Leesburg, Brandon Haley of Branch, Jacob Haley of Branch and Cheyenne Harrell of Lena; sister, Jennifer McNew (John) of Kentucky; 5 grandchildren, Addyson Leigh Edwards, Wyatt Jase Edwards, Mariley Nicole Hicks, Jamison T. Hicks and Jestin Chase Harper; mother-in-law, Joy Sumerall (James) of Branch; father-in-law, Bobby Joe Harrell (Bobbie Jean) of Morton; a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers were Roy Chico McClendon, Robert Ingle, Tony King, Garrett Measells, Michael Beauvais and Ryan Wilson.
Memorials may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society.
