Ernest Wilburn Ladd, 85, of Brandon, passed away Monday, June 30, at Crossgates River Oas Hospital following a lengthy illness. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 2, from 5:00 - 8:00 pm at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon and also on Thursday at 10:00 am prior to the 11:00 am funeral service. Interment will be at Erin Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Union at 3:00 pm.
Mr. Ladd was a loving husband to Delores French Ladd for 62 years and they were blessed with three sons, Kenny, Marty, and Ricky. Mr. Ladd loved coaching his sons’ baseball teams and was involved in all of their sports activities. Ernest also loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
Mr. Ladd served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict during 1951 – 1953. He was employed by Sperry Vickers (currently Eaton Corporation) for twenty-three years.
A faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church, Mr. Ladd deeply loved the Lord and his family, doting on his grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to his wife Delores, he is survived by his sons Kenny Michael Ladd and his wife Cathy of Metarie, LA; Marty Wayne Ladd and his wife Kay of Brandon; and Ricky Alan Ladd, MD and his wife Erin of Columbia, SC; grandchildren, Lindsey Ladd, Sidney Ladd, Wesley Ladd, Ramsey Ladd, Lacey Cheatham, Kelsey Ladd, Katie Walker, Ben Muha, Victoria Ladd, Jacob Ladd, and Joshua Ladd; and seven great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers Sidney Ladd, Jr. (Larrie) of Flowood and Billy Jo Ladd of Jackson; sisters Sarah Glascoe (Richard) of Mobile, AL, and Blonzelle Brown (Bo) of Decatur, MS; many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Ethel Ladd, brother Howard Ladd, and sister Annie Lois Skinner.
