Ernest Clay "Buddy" Moore

Ernest Clay “Buddy” Moore, 81, of Johns, MS went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 27, 2024.

Buddy was born on October 27, 1942, in Hillsboro, MS to Henry Clay Moore and Dorothy Stewart Moore. He married Patricia Irene White on October 13, 1965, and they resided in Pearl, MS until they relocated to Johns, MS in 2004.

As a young adult, Buddy served with the military police in the Army National Guard. He then worked in construction and was a well-known professional painter for many years. In his early adult years, Buddy was a proud member of the Wahabi Shrine Clown Unit. His hobbies were hunting, fishing, playing guitar and singing, listening to Merle Haggard, watching Westerns, reading and studying the Bible, and spending time with his loved ones. He loved his family dearly. He was a Godly man and a true and pure example of Jesus. Buddy will be deeply missed. His memory will live on through all those who knew him and loved him.

Buddy was preceded in death by both of his parents and his older sister, Linda Weeks. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Patricia Irene Moore, his younger brother David Moore of Nashville, TN, and his younger sister Dianne Berry (Wallace) of Brandon, MS. His children include: Ricky Culpepper, Monique Moore, Vicki Evans (Howard), Patti Graham (Anthony), and Katie Dowler (John). He is also survived by his grandchildren: Justin Roberts, Richard Culpepper, Brock Cooper (Amber), Jason Roberts, Danny Culpepper, Brad Cooper (Kelsey), Joshua Roberts, Jacob Cooper (Shaynna), Jeremy Cooper (Megan), Jana Cooper Watts (Will), Clay Evans, Carlee Evans, Isabella Hanks, Claire Hanks, Olivia Hanks, and James Hanks, along with a host of great-grandchildren. 

Visitation will be Sunday, June 30, 2024, from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm and Monday, July 1, 2024, from 10:00 am until 11:00 am. A funeral service will be held at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS on July 1, 2024, at 11:00 am. Interment will be held at Hillsboro Baptist Cemetery, Harperville, MS. Bro. Dennis Dunn will officiate the services. Pallbearers are James Hanks, Clay Evans, Jeremy Cooper, Jacob Cooper, Brad Cooper, Richard Culpepper, and Justin Roberts.
