Born on November 23, 1926, in Billups Gate, near Artesia, MS, to the late Grover Cleveland and Myrtle Molloy Andrews, Mrs. Ellington grew up in Artesia, Columbus, and Caledonia. She graduated from New Hope High School, where she was Salutatorian and editor of the school newspaper. She worked for the Military Department, where she met the love of her life, James Robert Ellington. They married and lived in Jackson, where they reared three daughters, and later moved to Brandon in 2002.
A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she served as a Christ-like example for her children and grandchildren. A long-time member of Epworth United Methodist Church, and later of Brandon First United Methodist Church, she taught first grade Sunday school for many years and was later a charter member of the Watkins Friendship Sunday School Class. Mrs. Ellington faithfully served as a communion steward and as a member of many church committees. An inspiration and a blessing to everyone she knew, she is remembered as the epitome of the dignified and gracious southern lady.
