Evelyn Diane Mayo

Evelyn “Diane” Mayo, of Florence, Mississippi, passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2024. Visitation will be at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, from 9:30 to 11:00 am, with the funeral service following at 11:00 in the chapel. Ms. Mayo will be laid to rest in Brandon Memorial Gardens.

Diane was born March 2, 1954, in Jackson, Mississippi, to George Hardy Mayo and Helen Frances Patterson Mayo. She graduated from Brandon High School in 1972. She was a Registered Radiologic Technologist, having graduated from St. Dominic School of Radiologic Technology. She was registered in radiology and computed tomography (CT). She spent her entire career of 40 years at St. Dominic Hospital. Diane was very active in her local, state, and national Radiologic Societies, holding offices in each. She was elected president of the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT), serving over 150,000 technologists across the country, and was elevated to Fellow of the ASRT. She was elevated to Life Member of the MS Society of Radiologic Technologists.

Diane was a member of First Baptist Church, Red Hat Society, and Welcome Member Club. She loved shopping and Christmas, and she adored her dogs.

Diane is preceded in death by her parents, George Hardy Mayo and Helen Frances Patterson Mayo, and her brother, George William “Bill” Mayo.

She is survived by her nephew, Craig Mayo (Nikki); sister-in-law, Joanne Oliver Mayo; great niece and nephew, Savannah and Logan Mayo; and her beloved Yorkies, Abby and Kobi.
