Faye Lanthrip

Mrs. Faye Lanthrip, a native of Philadelphia, and a longtime resident of Scott County, MS was born three days before Christmas, December 22, 1943, to her parents R.B. and Annie Jewel Williamson Chandler. She passed away October 24, 2021 at St. Dominic Memorial Hospital in Jackson, MS at the age of 77 .

A lady of character, Mrs. Lanthrip will be remembered for her loving, kind, patient, caring, and calming demeanor expressed in her daily living.  She was a retired employee of Sara Lee, Inc., who enjoyed working cross word puzzles, and reading, specifically Harlequin romance novels. She will be remembered for the love that she had for her family, especially her grandchildren. Mrs. Lanthrip was a Christian by testimony of her faith and a member of Steele Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years: Mr. Elmer Eugene Lanthrip (2019); her parents: R.B. and Annie Jewel Williamson Chandler; three sisters: Osteree Taylor, Arbela Parker, and Mary Harkey.

Survivors include her three children: Jamie (Kelly) Lanthrip and Charnell (Barry) Sharp, both of Forest and Erica (Greg) Sullivan of Walnut Grove; eight grandchildren: Ian Lanthrip, Jessie Faulkner, Shawn Dugan, Britney Smith, Kaylee Sharp, Laney Moak, Tyler Sullivan, and Saylor Sullivan; three great-grandchildren: Braxton Smith, Duke Faulkner, and Wyatt Sullivan; one sister: Desiree May of Forest; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will begin 3:00 pm on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at Steele Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the Steele Baptist Cemetery under the direction of Ott & Lee Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm Monday, October 25, 2021 at the funeral home and Tuesday one hour prior to the services at the church.

Memorial donations may be made to  the Steele Baptist Church Building Fund or the Steele Baptist Cemetery Fund.
