Floy Nelms, 81, died Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS. Visitation is 6 – 8 pm Thursday, June 2, 2011 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon and 9 – 10 am Friday, June 3, 2011 at Bethel Baptist Church in Brandon, MS. Funeral Services are 10 am Friday at Bethel Baptist Church with burial to follow at 3 pm Friday in the Monte Vista Baptist Church Cemetery in Monte Vista, MS
Floy Nelms was born on July 17, 1929 in Eupora, Mississippi to the late Herman Columbus Nelms and Icy Dora Beaird Nelms. She had lived in the Jackson area for sixty years and in Brandon since 1991. She was a Member of Bethel Baptist Church and had retired from Millsaps College in 2000 as an executive secretary. After her retirement she Volunteered at St. Dominic-Jackson Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include her sister, Frances Nelms Ainsworth of Brandon, MS; nieces and nephews, Glen Ainsworth & his wife, Joyce of Brandon, MS, Frank Ainsworth & his wife, Cathy of Pearl, MS, Mary Mitchell & her husband, Greg of Madison, MS, and Steve Ainsworth & his wife, Lawana of Brandon, MS; and numerous great and great great nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Bethel Baptist Church, 128 Bethel Church Road, Brandon, MS 39042.
