Frances Vincent Boutwell
Forest
Frances Vincent Boutwell, 83, a life long resident of Forest was welcomed into the arms of God on December 16, 2010.
Mrs. Boutwell was the widow of the late John W. Boutwell. The two were married in 1946 until his death in 1978. They worked as a team building the family business. Mrs. Boutwell retired in 2000 after 50 years as bookkeeper and “Queen Mum” of Boutwell Gas Company.
She was a tireless cheerleader for – and poorly – disguised critic of – her children, Dewane Boutwell Weaver, John W. Boutwell, Jr. and Keith Boutwell. She survived a devastating battle with polio in 1952 to regain her mobility and continue a life filled with children, church, civic involvement and a wonderful circle of close friends.
After excelling in music and serving as drum major for the Forest High School marching band, the 17 year-old Frances boarded a train to travel to her beloved University of Alabama, which she attended prior to her marriage. Her husband’s loyalty to MSU made for some interesting dinner conversation during every football season.
All her life, but especially in her later years, she found one of her primary joys in her church. She was born and lived as a child next door to the Forest United Methodist Church, and she will be joined by family and friends who will gather to say goodbye on Saturday, December 18, 2010. Visitation will take place at 9:30 in the Family Life Center, followed by the funeral at 11:00 am, then graveside services at Eastern Cemetery, where she will once again join her beloved John.
Left behind to mourn her death and cherish her memories of a life well-lived are her daughter, Dewane and her family, husband, Glenn and sons, Grey and Grant of Houston, TX; son, John and his wife Beverly of Forest, granddaughter Kelly Boutwell of Jackson; granddaughter Jessie Partridge and her husband Jerrod and their children Ren and Mae all of Jackson; son, Keith Boutwell and his wife Denice of Forest and their son Owen of Oxford; and Mrs. Boutwell’s devoted helper and companion of 8 years, Kecia Mayers of Forest, to whom the family wishes to express their limitless appreciation.
Friends wishing to honor Mrs. Boutwell’s Memory may make memorial contributions to the Forest United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 68, Forest, MS 39074
Arrangements were entrusted to Ott and Lee Funeral Home of Forest.
