Frances Smith

Frances P. Smith, 93, passed away Friday, December 28, 2012, at River Oaks Hospital in Flowood. Her visitation was held December 29, 2012 from 5:00 to 8:00 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon with burial in Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery near White Oak, MS on Sunday, December 30, 2012 at 2:00. Pall bearers were her grandsons.

Mrs. Smith was born to the late John and Lou Pennington of Polkville, MS. She lived most of her life in the Sardis Community in Smith County. She was a member of the Sardis Baptist Church for 70 years. She served as the church clerk from 1963 to 1988. She worked at the Raleigh Corporation from 1963 to 1978. She was a member of the Willis Chapter number 350, Order of the Eastern Star at White Oak for over 60 years and she served as Worthy Matron and secretary for many years. She moved to the Brandon Court nursing home in 2009.

Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Cooper Smith; her father, John Pennington; her mother, Lou Pennington; her brother, Roy Pennington; her brother, Hooker Pennington; her brother, Absolom Pennington; her brother, Ernest Pennington; her sister, Eva Pennington. She is survived by her four children: C. Lavell Smith (Pam) of Pearl, Albert Earl Smith of Brandon, Billy Frank Smith (Joy) of White Oak, and Luann Smith Ainsworth (James) of Brandon. She is also survived by 8 grandsons: Cooper L. Smith II, Joshua Smith, Myron Smith, David Smith, Larry Smith, Stephen Smith, William Smith, and Jonathon Smith. She is also survived by 2 granddaughters, Jamie Ainsworth and Lacey Ainsworth. She is also survived by 13 great grandchildren. She also leaves behind two sister-in-laws, Clovis Pennington of Jackson and Jean Smith of White Oak and a host of nephews and neices.
