Francis Marie Burkes Adams

Francis Marie Burkes Adams passed into her savior's arms on Monday, October 30, 2023.

Mrs. Adams was born on June 11, 1943 to Caleb Taylor Burkes and Oda Ozell Craig Burkes in Homewood, Mississippi.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Pete Adams, and 3 siblings: her older sister, Mattie Irene Boyles, brothers James Taylor Burkes, and Billy Ray Burkes.

Francis is survived by two sisters, Peggy Burkes and Delois Ann Stevens, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Adams graduated from Pascagoula High School and went on to get a degree in Business from college in Mobile, AL. She worked many jobs over the years, and eventually retired from Fairway Grocery. She lived with her husband in Gautier, MS until the time of his passing in 1995, when she moved back to Homewood to be close to her sisters. In life, Francis enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her sister Peggy. She was an animal lover, which speaks to her caring spirit. She loved sitting at her table watching the hummingbirds buzz about, and never hesitated to care for a kitty. She had two indoor cats, Shadow and Sister, and 5 outdoor cats that she loved and fed. She was a faithful member of Homewood Baptist Church where she enjoyed listening to the word of God, and attended church there until her health would not allow it.

There will be a graveside service held at Homewood Methodist Cemetery on Wednesday November 1st at 3pm.
