Francis Robert

Francis Mitchell “Mitch” Robert of Pearl, MS left this world on July 22, 2016 at the age of 74.

Francis was born in Ama, Louisiana on July 15, 1942 to Joseph Marcel and Ernestine Hymel Robert. He graduated from Hahnville High School in Boutte, Louisiana in 1960 before joining the United States Air Force, in which he served for six years. After moving to Mississippi, Francis worked for over 40 years as a journeymen electrician and superintendent for Fountain Construction Company and taught hundreds of electrical apprenticeship students for 38 years at IBEW 480.

Francis loved his friends and students and, above all, his family. He was a devoted husband and father of three, a proud grandfather (“Papaw”, “Pops”, and “Bop”) of four, and adoring great grandfather of two. He was the youngest of nine brothers and sisters and beloved uncle (“Uncle Buddy”) to 23 nephews and nieces and numerous great nephews and great nieces.

Francis is survived by his wife of 38 years, Sandra; children, Renee McCaughn and her husband Jason, James Robert and wife Trudy, and Michael Robert; four grandchildren, Joshua Robert, Timothy Robert, Kimberly Robert, and Jase McCaughn; two great-grandchildren, Bryson and Brennan Robert; sister, Ernestine Kappel and her husband John; and sister-in-law, Norma Robert.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Odette Robert, Anna Mae Robert, Leola Zeringue and her husband Joseph, and Lydia Robert and her husband Preston; and brothers, Ernest Robert, Andrew Robert and his wife Edna and Marcel Robert.

Visitation will be Sunday, July 24, 2016 from 5pm-7pm and on Monday, July 25, 2016 from 9am-10:45am at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Funeral Services are 11am on Monday, July 25, 2016 at the Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel in Brandon, MS with burial to follow in the Glenwood Memorial Park in Richland, MS.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make donations in his memory to Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital at 2500 North State St. Jackson, MS 39216.
