Franklin Stevenson Hammons, age 68, a resident of Raleigh, died Saturday March 15, 2014 at the Lackey Memorial Hospital in Forest.
Funeral services were conducted at 11:30am Tuesday March 18, 2014 from the Leaf River Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery. Visitation was held from 5pm-8pm Monday March 17, 2014 at Ott & lee Funeral Home in Forest and again Tuesday March 18, 2014 from 10am to service time at the church. Bro. Danny Dickerson officiated.
Mr. Hammons was born in Smith County on July 23, 1945 to his parents Sherman S. Hammons and Lucille Webb Hammons. He was a member of Leaf River Baptist Church. He was a pharmacist, employed by Moore’s Pharmacy in Walnut Grove and Med-Center Pharmacy in Magee. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved his family. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Wilda Hammons of Raleigh, 3 children; Kristina Jenkins of Gadsden, AL Bradley Hammons and David Hammons both of Raleigh. He also leaves behind 2 grandchildren; Hailey E. Jenkins and Jacob D. Jenkins. Additional survivors include 2 sisters: Lorraine Burnett and Susie Randall both of Brandon; 5 brothers, Joe Hammons (Judy) of Brandon, Coleman Hammons (Janice) of Brandon, Donald Hammons also of Brandon, Howard Hammons (Vickie) of Raleigh, Mickey Hammons (Donna) of Bay Springs.
Pallbearers were Cody Hammons, Russell Speed, Ricky Hammons, Kevin Hammons, Devin Hammons, Terry Burnett, Ryan Randall and Matt Hammons.
