Fred Kolesar

Fred Kolesar, 73, passed away Mon. June 28, 2021 at St. Dominic Memorial Hospital in Jackson, MS. Visitation will be held on Fri. July 2, 2021 from 5pm-7pm at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. There will be a private graveside service at Lakeland Place Garden Park Cemetery in Brandon, MS.

Fred was born on Oct. 25, 1947 in Streator, IL to the late Joseph Kolesar and Anna Babey Kolesar. He served his country in the U.S. Navy and also with the U.S. Marine Corps as a medic for four years. Fred received a Purple Heart from action during Vietnam. After discharge from service, he walked the Appalachian Trails for 3 months before moving to Springfield, IL. Fred worked for St. Johns Hospital in Springfield, IL as a Certified Operating Room Technician and went on to get his RN in 1979. He worked in the emergency room and later became an Operating Room Director for Doctors Hospital. Fred and family moved to Mississippi in 1991 where he worked as an Operating Room Director for a hospital in Jackson, MS. Fred retired from Merit Health Crossgates in 2017 as a Nursing Administrator Rep. Fred enjoyed hunting and ran Stump Ridge Hunting Club for over 10 years. He also enjoyed bowling and was on 2 bowling leagues. Fred attended Word of Life Church, and served on the Parking Team for the early service. Most of all, Fred enjoyed his family and friends. Everybody that knew him always commented on his smile and fun-loving nature. We will miss him dearly.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie Kolesar; son, Clint Kolesar (Dena); daughter, Kerry Llarena (Jhoeryx); four grandchildren, Brandon Kolesar, Ameila Jo Kolesar, Zeta Jo Llarena and Jhaden Llarena; sister, Sarah Hoffman (Phillip); two brothers, Larry Kolesar (Kay), Tony Kolesar (June) and a sister in law, Lynn Landrey. Fred is also preceded in death by a sister, Veronica Kolesar and a brother, Jerry Kolesar.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the ICU department at St. Dominic Hospital for the wonderful care they gave Fred.
