Gary Wayne Morehead, Sr., 68, passed away at Merit Health Rankin on Friday, December 8, 2023.  Visitation will be 5-8pm Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS.  Funeral services will be 1pm Wednesday, December 13, 2023.  Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Vicksburg, MS. 

Gary was born in Kosciusko, MS on November 15, 1955, to Edgar Malone Morehead, Sr. and Clara Mae Cremeen Morehead.  Gary was a River Boat Captain and Tow Boat Captain /Pilot. He worked for Kentucky Navigation and Stokes Towing.  He also worked with the Corps of Engineers and was on various committees for bridge placements and replacements.  In 2003, Gary had a liver transplant and retired soon after due to health issues.  He raised his children in his retirement until their adulthood.

Survivors include his wife, Lisa Cornwell Morehead; son, Gary Morehead Greco (Gabriella); daughter, Marissa Morehead Greco; stepson, Jon Michael Greco; grandchildren, Alana Morehead and Lauren Greco; sister, Sherry Jane Munnerlyn (Terry); brother, Edgar Morehead, Jr. (Bonnie); nieces and nephews, Sherra Grosvenor, Michael Harmon, Steve Harmon, Jennifer Morehead Tutor, Victoria Morehead, and Jessica Morehead: and several great nieces and great nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar Malone Morehead and Clara Mae Cremeen Morehead; granddaughter, Denver Marie Morehead; brother, Randy Morehead; and a nephew, Nicholas Munnerlyn.
