George Arthur Eichelberger, age 96, a lifelong resident of Forest died Wednesday August 22, 2012 at the Mississippi Care Center in Morton following an extended illness.
Funeral services were conducted at 10am Saturday August 25, 2012 from the chapel of Ott & Lee Funeral Home of Forest with interment in the High Hill Methodist Cemetery. Rev. Gene Banes officiated the services. Visitation was held from 5pm to 8pm Friday August 24, 2012.
Mr. Eichelberger was born in Scott County on May 28, 1916 to Willis Frank Eichelberger and Sarah Broadfoot Eichelberger. He resided in the Norris community where he farmed and enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing. Mr. Eichelberger was a skilled Cabinet Maker and was well known for his fine craftsmanship. He was a member of the High Hill Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
Mr. Eichelberger is survived by his wife Mary Ruth Eichelberger of Forest, two sons Ed Eichelberger and wife Sue, Carl Eichelberger and wife Vonnie, on daughter Elizabeth Gunn and husband David all of Forest. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, eight grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Pallbearers were Lance Eichelberger, Eric Gunn, Jordan Gunn, Jason Stroud, Mike Stroud and Heath Clark.
