George Hubbard

George Edward Hubbard, 81, of Forest, MS, died Feb. 22, 2014 at the V.A.
Hospital in Jackson, MS.Funeral
services will be Tuesday, Feb. 25, at 11:00 a.m. at Ott & Lee
Funeral
Home in Forest. Visitation will be held Monday, Feb. 24, from 5:00 –
8:00 p.m. at Ott & Lee. Interment will be made at Hillsboro Baptist
Cemetery.
Mr. Hubbard was born in Pheba, MS., on May 4, 1932. He grew up in Forest and graduated
Scooba High School in 1950. He joined the Army after graduation and served as a medic in Korea until 1952.
Mr. Hubbard attended East Mississippi Junior College and Mississippi State
University. He entered Navy Pilot training in 1957.
In 2013 he retired from L&S Mini Storage in Forest.
Mr. Hubbard was a member of Forest United Methodist Church and the Men’s Bible Class and
was active in organizing fellow Army Veterans at East Mississippi Community College.
He is preceded in death by his parents Ruth and Thomas G. Hubbard; sisters, Senie Greener
and Sarah Gallman; and daughter, Bonny Pope Gordon.
He is survived by his wife
of 47 years,
Brenda Gatewood Pope Hubbard; daughter, Rowanna Pope of Alabama; son,
Mike Pope of Forest; son-in-law, Ken Gordon, Jr. of Morton; sisters Mary
Jo Marler of Forest
and Dorothy (Bob) Roth of Roanoake, Va.; five grandchildren, Brock Pope,
Cole Pope, Jessi Pope Russell, Ken Gordon III and Kevin Gordon; four
great grandchildren, Rowan and Kalli Russell; and Morgan and Baylor
Pope.
Pallbearers will be Brock Pope,
Cole Pope, Ken Gordon III, Kevin Gordon, John David Bassie, Justin
Russell and Rowan Russell. Forest United Methodist Church Men’s Bible
Class will serve as honorary pallbearers.
