George Van Lockley

George Van Lockley, age 70, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 11th, 2024.

George was born to Charles Stanley Lockley Sr and Alice Browning Winson Lockley on November 10th, 1953, at Riley Hospital in Meridian MS. He graduated from Meridian High School and Mississippi State University, with a BS in Marketing and Management.

George married Dianne Roberts on March 20, 1982. Together they had one child, David Van Lockley. He worked many years for Sherwin Williams Paint before establishing his own business, Lockley’s Painting and Wash.

George was a longtime member of Jones Memorial Presbyterian Church in Meridian MS. He had a passion for gardening and working outdoors. He was also an avid sportsman with a love for deer and turkey hunting He also loved to fish.

George was preceded in death by his father, Charles Stanley Lockley Sr; mother, Alice Browning Winson Lockley; brother Charles Stanley (Stan) Lockley Jr and sister, Susan Alice Lockley.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Dianne Roberts Lockley; son, David Van Lockley (Dawn); granddaughters, Sarah Jane and Molly Anne Lockley; sister-in-law, Kathy Vinson Lockley; nephew, Charles (Charlie) Stanley Lockley III; niece Shea Lockley Mowdy (Jason); great niece, Taylor Mowdy; nephew, Logan Mowdy; brother-in-law Michael (Mike) John Roberts; and special long time friend, Mark Breland.

Visitation will be at Ott & Lee Funeral Home, Brandon MS on Saturday, August 17, 2024, from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm. The family will have a private prayer service following visitation.

In lieu of flowers, per his request, please make donations in memory of George Lockley to the Diabetes Foundation, American Kidney Association or American Heart Association.
