George Allen Weathersby, 84, of Pelahatchie, MS, passed away Thursday, March 30, 2017 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 31, 2017 from 5pm-8pm at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Services are 4 pm Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Shiloh United Methodist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. David Slaughter will officiate.
Mr. Weathersby was a native of New Hebron, MS and a longtime resident of the Jackson area. He was a very active member of Shiloh United Methodist Church and a former member of many years at Alta Woods United Methodist Church in Jackson before moving to the Shiloh Community in 1983. Mr. Weathersby was a U. S. Navy Veteran of the Korean War and had worked for South Central Bell/AT&T for 36 years, retiring in 1985. After retirement, he had worked as a private contractor at the Jackson Municipal Airport.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Bettie Johnson Weathersby; daughters, Beckie W. Kerut (Dr. Timothy Kerut) of Vicksburg and Linda W. Pittman (Charles Pittman, Jr.) of Atlanta; grandchildren, Laurie Prescott (Matt), Dr. Marianne Wilson (Dr. Lucas Wilson), and Dr. Sarah Kerut, Matthew Pittman (Lindsay), Hannah Hogg (Dr. James Hogg) and Rebecca Kreutziger (Casey); great-grandchildren, Travis Pittman, Ryan Pittman, Elizabeth Prescott, Gates Hogg and Mary Matthews Prescott. Mr. Weathersby was preceded in death by his daughter, Debra Ann Weathersby; parents, George and Thelma Weathersby; sisters, Sarah Beasley and Elizabeth Spain.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Prescott, Matthew Pittman, Casey Kreutiziger, Lucas Wilson, Beau Varner and Danny Beasley.
