Georgia S. Tatum, 86, passed away Tues. Nov. 30, 2010 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. Visitation will be held Thurs. from 5pm.-8pm. at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon and Friday from 10am.-10:45am. at the Chunky Baptist Church. Funeral Services are 11am. Fri. Dec. 3, 2010 at Chunky Baptist Church with interment to follow in the Chunky Cemetery in Lauderdale County.

Mrs. Tatum was born in Enterprise, MS, lived most of her life in Jackson, and has been a resident of Brandon for the past 15 years. She was a member of Parkway Baptist Church in Clinton for 40 years before moving her membership to Chunky Baptist Church. Mrs. Tatum graduated from nursing school in 1946 and was a nurse at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Meridian, MS for the early part of her career. Later in her career she was named Director of Nursing for Inglewood Nursing Home in Jackson and also held the same position at Crossgates Manor in Brandon. She also sang in the choir at Parkway Baptist Church, enjoyed working with flowers, but most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Adelia Lee and husband Peter of Brandon; three sons, Meridith W. Tatum Jr. and wife Julie of Flora, Marion G. Tatum of Brandon and Joe S. Tatum and wife Anita of Richland; one sister, Farris Russell of Washington; one brother, Joseph Sanders of Brandon; five grandchildren, Sarah Marie Lee, Pete Lee, Mark Lee, Joshua Tatum, and Elizabeth Tatum. Mrs. Tatum is preceded in death by her husband, Meridith W. Tatum, and her granddaughter, Heather Danielle Tatum.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Chunky Baptist Church, Chunky, MS 39323.
