Geraldine Crowder Isbell Kynerd, 80, died Sunday, March 12, 2017. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon. Visitation will be Wednesday from 12:30 pm until 2:00 pm, with the service to follow. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park in Jackson immediately following.
Geraldine Kynerd, the sixth child of Howard Lemay Crowder and Willowdean Broadfoot.was born Dec. 12, 1936, in Florence, Alabama. She lived in Jackson, MS for the majority of her adult life. For many years, she was an active member of the United Methodist Church, attending services at Trinity United Methodist Church, Epworth United Methodist Church and Crossgates United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Kynerd was a stay at home mom and also worked in child care. She was an avid doll collector, starting with her childhood Shirley Temple doll. Mrs. Kynerd loved her two children. If the situation called for it, she wasn’t afraid to fight for their well-being. One of her favorite stories was when she met and got the autograph of a young Elvis Presley.
Mrs. Kynerd was preceded in death by her first husband, Wiley Travis Isbell, and her second husband, Rupert Ira Kynerd. She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Kay Isbell Huerkamp (Joe), of Macon, MS; her son, Timothy Travis Isbell (Judy), of Gulfport, MS; grandsons, Joshua Travis Huerkamp of Charlotte, NC, Joseph Tyler Huerkamp (Sarah) of Macon, MS and Patrick Travis Isbell of Gulfport, MS; stepsons, Stanley L. Kynerd (Pam) of Brandon, MS and Dr. Robert E. Kynerd of Birmingham, AL; step-grandson, Alex Kynerd of Brandon, MS; step-granddaughter, Shannon Kynerd of Brandon, MS; great granddaughter, Lane Huerkamp and great grandson, Luke Huerkamp, both of Macon, MS; sisters, Barbara Crowder Curry of Huntsville, AL and Mary Crowder Wells of Florence, AL; brother, Jack Crowder (Kathy) of Florence, AL and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
