Mrs. Garland was a member of Parkway Baptist Church and a retired certified nurse’s assistant at Mississippi Care Center in Morton. She loved her family very much and they loved her. Favorite past times included cross stitching, gardening and watching old Westerns. After retirement from Mississippi Care Center, Mrs. Garland began a career of providing child care in her home until 2008, and she was dubbed with the name “Maw Granny.” As of late, her family took pride in the fact that she enjoyed the modern technological use of her IPad, and played “Candy Crush” and “Solitaire.” Her memory will live on in the lives of those she loved.
She is preceded in death by her husband: Floyd Ellis Garland; her parents: Frank M. and Georgia Culpepper Bell; two sisters and three brothers.
Survivors include her three children: Sonny (Joan) Garland; Shelia (David) Weeks, and Shirley (Lester) Beatty, all of Morton; five grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; one brother: L. D. Bell of Ruston, LA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be Scott Garland, Cole Garland, Zach Garland, Taylor Ivy, Brandon Weeks, and Ethan Wilson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Russ Beatty, Jimmy Garland, and Michael Weeks.
