Ada Gertrude Franklin Emerson, 79, passed away on Monday, December 7, 2020, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, MS.  Visitation will be held 11 AM – 1:15 PM Thursday, December 10, at Antioch Baptist Church in Pearl, MS, with services following at 1:30 PM at the church.  Burial will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park in Jackson, MS (Clinton Blvd).  Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS.  Reverend Dewayne Simmons will officiate.

Mrs. Emerson was born on June 30, 1941, to the late WB and Christine Franklin.  She worked at the MS State Hospital at Whitfield for many years as an LPN.  Gertrude had a huge heart and never met a stranger.  She loved her family very much and had a heart of Gold.  She will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.

Mrs. Emerson is preceded in death by her husband, Walter H. Emerson; two sons, Harold and Chris Emerson; and her parents, WB and Christine Franklin.  She is survived by her son, Richard Emerson and wife, Janice; stepdaughter, Janice Smith; grandchildren, Amanda Emerson Taylor (Paul), Timothy Emerson (Ashley), Lindsey Emerson; Gwen Geddes (Mark), Jason, Ben, Jessica, and Emily Rambo.  Mrs. Emerson is also survived by her siblings, Darlene Parker, Johnny Franklin and Jimmy Franklin; great-grandchildren, Chloe, Carlee, Zoey, Brantley, Hannah, and Carter.  The family would like to give a special thank you to Helen Huff (cousin) for all the help!

Pallbearers will be Timothy Emerson, Paul Taylor, Mark Geddes, Dewayne Robinson, David Franklin and Shane Boyles.
