Glen Phillips

September 12, 1937 — March 7, 2025

Pearl

Glen M. Phillips of Pearl, Mississippi went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, March 7, 2025.

Glen was born September 12, 1937, in Morton, Mississippi to Caley and Allie Phillips.

He learned to drive a dump truck by 15 and spent the rest of his working life driving. After years of working as a car hauler, and other driving experiences, Glen became an over the road driver for Roadway Express. He spent 30 years with Roadway and achieved more than 4 million safe driving miles. He was rewarded with his own dedicated tractor and flew to Virginia to pick it up from the factory. This was always a proud achievement for Glen and his family.

Glen married Diane Carpenter in 1957 and they spent the next 67 years raising their family and loving one another.

Glen loved his two daughters, Teresa Parnell, and Angela Erickson. He spent many hours helping his girls fix things around their homes, replacing brakes on cars, planting shrubs, and fixing messes his sons-in-law created trying DIY projects.

During his many years of retirement, Glen enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working in his yard. Neighbors would often stop and admire his beautiful yard, which he and his daughters sprigged by hand (1.5 acres).

Glen lived by the philosophy if one is good, then fifteen is better. Therefore, he collected more tools, straps, nuts and bolts than 100 people could have ever used.

Glen enjoyed driving the bus at Crossgates Baptist Church and serving as an usher.

He is survived by his loving wife, Diane, two daughters, Teresa Parnell, and Angela Erickson (Greg), his two adoring grandchildren Brittney (Erickson) Lide (Jay), and Ben Parnell (Meagan) along with his great granddaughter, Avery Lide.

He is also survived by his sisters, Faye Carpenter, and Deborah Blackwell, along with many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father Caley Phillips, his mother Allie Phillips, sister Nadean Bradshaw, brothers Leo Harrell, James Darwin Harrell, sister Peggy Jolley, and son-in-law Michael Parnell.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Peachtree Village, (Brandon) and St. Joesph Hospice for their loving care.

A celebration of life service will be held at Crossgates Baptist Church, Brandon, Mississippi on Tuesday, March 11, 2025. Visitation will begin at 9:30, service to follow at 11:00 A.M.
