Glynda Joyce Bullock Jones, 85, passed away peacefully February 7, 2025, in Fayetteville, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, Mississippi, on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 1:00 pm with burial to follow in Lakewood Memorial Park South in Jackson, Mississippi. Visitation will begin at 12:00 pm at the funeral home.
Glynda was born December 1, 1939, in Bassfield, Mississippi to John Henry and Elmer Reece Bullock and was the baby of a large and close-knit family. She graduated from Bassfield High School, Pearl River Community College, and the University of Southern Mississippi where she earned a bachelor’s degree in home economics. She was the 4-H Agent in Pike County with the Mississippi Cooperative Extension Service before moving to Jackson and teaching at the Mississippi School for the Blind. She went on to earn a master’s degree in education at Mississippi College and taught in the Jackson Public School district.
Glynda was a talented seamstress and enjoyed sharing her creativity and talent with family and friends. She was a member of Crossgates Baptist Church in Brandon where she was an active member of the Overcomers Sunday School class and the Prime Timers senior citizens group. Prior to joining Crossgates, she was a member of Alta Woods Baptist Church for over 30 years, where she taught children’s Sunday School.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, James Lee Jones, her parents and siblings. She is survived by daughter, Shannan Berry and her husband Doug of Peachtree City, Georgia and four grandsons (who were her pride and joy) Jack Berry (Crystal) of Pensacola, Florida and Mills Berry, Burke Berry, and Kell Berry of Peachtree City, Georgia, and honorary granddaughter, Angela Qian of Brooklyn, New York.
