Grace and J.T. were married in Forest on March 4, 1943 and moved to Forest in 1946.
An active member of Forest Baptist Church for most of her life, Grace frequently worked behind the scenes at church functions. A founding member of Forest Mid-Century Club, she and fellow members spearheaded projects designed to improve the quality of life in Forest, and they maintained leadership roles throughout the community for many years. Grace was president of the club from 1968-1969 and served in other positions over a fifty year period. She was a former Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader, Band Booster and PTA member. She enjoyed a monthly luncheon club with a group of Forest friends for more than 30 years.
After the death of her husband in 2001, Grace moved to Beavercreek, Ohio to live with her daughter, Kathy, and her husband, Gary Robinson.
Grace is survived by two daughters, Nancy Bowman of Manteca, California and Kathy Robinson of Beavercreek, Ohio; two sons, James T. McAdory Jr. of Vista, California and Jeff McAdory of Memphis; two brothers, James Rushing of Forest and John Rushing of Ridgeland; four grandchildren; Beaux and Jay Bowman of Seattle, Washington, and Melissa Selner of Tampa, Florida, and Monica Robinson of Dayton, Ohio and four great-grandchildren; Cole McAdory Bowman, Davis Paul Bowman, Addyson Grace Selner and Austin James Selner.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 24 at Forest Baptist Church with interment in Eastern Cemetery. Rev. Gordon Sansing and Rev. Joe Pate will officiate. Ott and Lee Funeral Home of Forest is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will precede the service at 10 a.m.
Pallbearers will be Tom Walker, Grace’s nephews Wally, Johnny, Bryon Rushing, her grandson, Jay Bowman, and her son-in-law, Gary Robinson.
