He was a charter member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Greenville, where he served in various capacities. Gus moved his family in 1981 to Brandon, where he was associated with Pizza Hut until his retirement in 1999. He always loved books, especially science fiction. His greatest pleasure and enjoyment was spending time with his family. He was a loving, caring, and devoted husband to the love of his life, Ruby. They were married 69 years until her death in 2023.
