Harold Lloyd Haskins, 82, of Brandon, MS, passed away at River Oaks Health Systems in Flowood, MS on Friday Sept. 3, 2010.
Mr. Haskins, one of ten children, was born April 15,1928 in Silver City, MS, to parents, Luther M. Haskins and Octavia Belle Cherry Haskins.
Harold graduated as Class President of Silver City High School, Silver City, MS in 1940. After finishing business college in Jackson, MS, Harold married Miss Inez Jones of Mendenhall, MS and soon thereafter began a life long career in transportation. From the late forties and over the next 4 decades, Harold’s career took him to several cities in Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi following that truck transportation industry from roles as a manager to a company owner. Eventually settling back in Jackson, MS, Harold retired from the trucking industry in the early nineties.
Harold was an avid outdoorsman that enjoyed sharing his love of hunting and fishing with his family and friends, being a charter member of the Lost Forty Hunting Club of Issaquena County, MS. Many years were spent in the woods with his children and grandchildren learning appreciation for the outdoors.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Leon Haskins, Norman Haskins and sisters Alline Salter, Estelle Downs, Evelyn Atkinson and Lorraine Little.
He is survived by children: David (Jay) Haskins, Mike Haskins, Steve Haskins, Cindy (Darryl) Russell. By grandchildren: Greg Haskins, Steffanie Methvin, Amy Williams, Brandy Haskins, Jonathan Nowell, Matthew Haskins, Daniel Russell and Jenna Russell. By great-grandchildren: Ben Haskins, Melodie Haskins, Claire Methvin, Emily Methvin, Gabriel Haskins and Marley Williams. By brothers: Robert D. Haskins, Gerald A. Haskins and Jimmy Haskins.
