SERVICES: GRAVESIDE AT 1 PM WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 1, 2010 AT FLORAL HILLS MEMORY GARDENS IN PEARL.

VISITATION: 6-8 PM TUESDAY AT OTT AND LEE FUNERAL HOME IN BRANDON.


Harold Lang, 71, passed away Sunday, November 28, 2010 at the V. A. Hospital in Jackson. Visitation is 6-8 pm Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon. A graveside service will be held at 1 pm Wednesday at Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Pearl.

Harold was born January 16, 1939 in Magee, Simpson County, Mississippi and his family moved to Jackson when he was 3 years old. Many of his young years was spent in the Bailey Avenue community and attending Crestwood Baptist Church.

During his high school years at Central High, Harold was in ROTC and this eventually led him to join the Army and he trained at Camp Shelby, MS. During the Cuban Missile Crisis he was stationed at Ft. Gordon, GA awaiting overseas deployment and was with the 114th Military Police and attained the rank of Sgt.

Harold was an outdoorsman. He loved fishing and hunting. His happiest days were spent on a fish bank with friends and family. Among other hobbies, he enjoyed cooking and he was an avid Ole Miss Fan.

His parents, Carey Kimbell Lang and Zera Mae Womack Lang; sister, Nina Fay Lang preceded him in death.

Survivors include his sister, Patricia Harlan and husband Bill of Brandon; brother, Mike Lang of Pearl; nieces, Sandra Lang Floyd of Magee and Kimberly Dear of Brandon; great niece, Bailey Floyd; great nephew, Will
Dear and two step children.
