Harold Edward Roth, age 93 and a resident of Forest died Monday, February 11, 2019, following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be conducted at 6pm Wednesday, February 13, 2019, from the Forest United Methodist Church with Reverend David Slaughter officiating. Visitation will be held from 4pm til service time at Forest United Methodist Church.
Mr. Roth was born Wednesday, September 23, 1925, in Defiance County, Ohio to his parents Cloise Edward Roth and Mary Ethel Carlson Roth. He was a self-employed farmer. After his retirement, he had lived in Defiance County, OH and later Orland, IN before moving to Forest in 2014.
He served in the US Army during WWII. He loved his country. Mr. Roth was a member of the Defiance VFW, he also served two terms as president of the Defiance County Farm Bureau.. He loved nature, the outdoors and enjoyed being with family and friends. He will greatly be missed by all who knew and loved him. He was active in the United Methodist Church where he served as church treasurer at Ayersville United Methodist Church and later at Orland United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Forest United Methodist Church.
Mr. Roth was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 69 years, Barbara Harland Roth of Forest, two sons, Brian Roth (Erena) also of Forest and David Roth (Audrey) of Millsboro, DE. He leaves behind a legacy of nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Forest United Methodist Church 501 East Third Street Forest, MS 39074.
