Harold Wayne Stafford, 81, passed away Friday, February 16, 2024, at the Baptist Hospital in Jackson, MS.  Visitation will start at 11am Sunday, February 18, 2024, at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS.  Funeral services will follow at 1:00pm in the chapel of the funeral home.  Interment will be in Crestview Memorial Gardens in Brandon, MS.

Wayne was born in Quitman, MS on June 23, 1942, to Thomas Edward Stafford and Alice Myree Risher Stafford.  He graduated from Heidelberg High School as Valedictorian, and he was the first Petroleum engineer to graduate from Mississippi State University.   He went on to work in the oilfields as a Petroleum Engineer most of his life.  Wayne has traveled all over the world drilling wells, including Russia, Haiti, and Alaska.   

Outside of his career, Wayne enjoyed hunting, fishing, and horses.  He especially loved watching his granddaughter, barrel race.  He was very well known in the equestrian community.   

Mr. Stafford was a member of Crossgates Baptist Church in Brandon, MS.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Stafford; son, Wes Stafford (Sheri); daughter, Patricia Stafford King (Chris); sisters, Linda Claire Wesley and Karen Marie McCarty (Will); brother-in-law, Jimmy Thomas; five grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren with two great granddaughters on the way.  He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Patricia Ann Petermann and Mildred Carol Thomas.

Pallbearers will be Chris King, Nick Stafford, Parker Vincent, Mark Jones, Ethan Decker, Zach Rideout. 

Honorary Pallbearers will be Jimmy Thomas and Johnny Nicholson.

You may make memorial contributions in his memory to Crossgates Baptist Church-“Food Pantry” or Gideon's International.
