Harvey Allen Howard, age 83, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, January 4, 2021. The son of Walter Jacob and Frances Ann (Lowe) Howard, he was born on May 28, 1937, in Baxterville, Mississippi.
He graduated from Lumberton High School in 1955 and married childhood sweetheart, Patricia “Patsy” Ann Kittrell on July 21, 1956. For much of their married life, he and Patsy made Poplarville, Mississippi home and richly invested in their community. As a high school teacher, his career spanned thirty-plus years allowing him to touch the lives of countless students. He was dedicated in sharing his love of learning and the value of education in each he encountered. Upon retirement, he and Patsy settled in Purvis, Mississippi, where they cherished the fellowship and friendships made through their faithful attendance and love for First Baptist Church of Purvis.
Harvey was an avid outdoorsman, and in his free time, he enjoyed being on his land and working with his hands. He was a devoted friend, son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather—his greatest joy and achievement being his family. “ PawPaw” was one of the best titles he ever held and a role that came effortlessly to him. He never missed an opportunity to let his grandchildren and great-grandchildren know just how special and loved they were and always will be. His family will always remember his sweet smile and hallmark laugh, his love and devotion, and most importantly, his faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
He is preceded in death by his father, mother, 5 brothers, and 5 sisters.
Those who will miss him the most are his precious wife of 64 years, Patsy Howard; devoted daughter Frieda (Jamie) McKenzie; beloved granddaughters Megan (Brad) Malley and Shelby (Andrew) LeNarz; great-grandchildren Patton and Houston Malley, Ann Leland LeNarz; brothers Q.C. (Bonita) Howard, Walter J. Howard, Jr.; sister Lulla Rae Carpenter; and a multitude of extended family and friends.
