Helen Ruth Barr, 72, passed away Fri. Jan. 21, 2011 at the Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. Visitation will be held Mon. Jan. 24, 2011 from 5pm.-9pm. and Tues. Jan. 25, 2011 from 10am.-10:45am. at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon,MS. Funeral Services are 11am. Tues. Jan. 25, 2011 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon,MS with interment following in the Glenwood Memorial Park in Richland,MS.
Mrs. Barr was born in San Augustine, TX and has lived in Rankin County since 1977. She was a member of Crossgates Baptist Church in Brandon, MS, the Gold Wing Road Riders Association, and the Magee Family Camping Club. Mrs. Barr retired from the Mississippi Telco Credit Union after 26 years of service and she also enjoyed working crossword puzzles. Mrs. Barr loved talking to people and she never meet a stranger, but most of all she devoted her whole life to her husband, children, and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Ronald Barr of Brandon,MS; four children, Tony Harvey and wife Angelia of Lake City, MI, Randy Harvey and wife Rai of Chandler, TX, Gary Harvey and wife Susan of Mendenhall, MS, Derrell Harvey and wife Michelle of Richland, MS, and Jeff Barr and wife Karen of Vaiden, MS; two brothers, Wayne Smith of Port Author, TX, and Berl Smith and wife Roseanne of San Augustine, TX; 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Ruth Smith of San Augustine, TX.
