Helen Stodghill Braswell, 90, a resident of Brandon, MS died Sunday, June 5, 2016 at her daughter’s home surrounded by her family. A memorial service will be held at 3 pm Saturday, June 11, 2016 with visitation just prior to the service from 2-3 pm. Bro. Daniel Dukes will officiate the services. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS.
Mrs. Braswell was a native of Jackson, MS. She was the daughter of James C. Kelly and Belvia Virginia Overby Kelly. She was married to Zack Braswell. She was Baptist by faith. She was an avid Bridge player for over 50 years playing in different Bridge Clubs around the Jackson area. She made many important friends whom she came to love dearly over the years while playing Bridge. She will be remembered as an excellent Southern Cook. Mrs. Braswell was a homemaker and enjoyed taking care of her family. She will be missed by all who loved and knew her.
Mrs. Braswell was preceded in death by her parents, James C. Kelly and Belvia Virginia Overby Kelly; her husband, Zack Braswell; her son, Calvin Stodghill and her sister, Betty Arnold.
Mrs. Braswell is survived by her children, Nancy Sulser, Cindy Polk, Beverly (Frank) Lohman, Clay Stodghill and Kelly (Bryant) Prude; brother, Buddy (Vickie) Kelly; 13 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; her constant companion, Lilly; and a host of friends.
