Mrs. Helen Wheeler Clifford, age 91, a resident of Morton passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. Visitation was held Thursday, February 2, 2012 from 5-8pm at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton and held 1pm-2pm Friday, February 3, 2012 at the funeral home. Funeral service was held at 2pm Friday at Ott & Lee Chapel in Morton with burial in Morton Memorial Gardens. Bro. David Pyles and Bro. Earl Clark officiated the service. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.
Mrs. Clifford was born in 1921 in Newton County. She loved flowers of all kinds and potting plants was one of her hobbies. Being a proud American was important to Helen and she loved to display the flag and let people know how patriotic she was. She loved her family very much and the memories will forever linger of the Sunday night gatherings that she loved so much. She will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Jim Wheeler and Emma Parker Wheeler; husband, Charles G. Clifford II; daughter, Barbara Helen Ott; sister, Fairrah Byrd and brother, A.Q. Wheeler.
She is survived by her 2 sons, Charles G. “Ricky” Clifford III (Judy) of Kokomo, Bruce Clifford (Margaret) of Morton; 9 grandchildren, Craig Clifford, Christen Goldsby (Shane), Chad Clifford, Bridget Clifford, Haley Clifford, Angel Ott, Jay Ott (Alison), Steve Crotwell (Gaye) and Kevin Crotwell (Keri); 6 great grandchildren, Pate Goldsby, Hannah Ott, Luke Ott, Colby Crotwell, Kaley Crotwell and Cooper Crotwell and a host of friends.
