Helen was born on July 17, 1926 in Gholson, Mississippi to the late Brooks and Lillian Lee Patterson. She was a homemaker for many years then worked for Wal-Mart for several years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Brandon.
Our loving Mother loved working in her yard tending to all her flowers. She was a great cook, especially known for Helen’s fried chicken and coconut cake. She held a special place in her heart for her grandson and great grand kids. Even though she couldn’t attend Logan’s baseball games she loved hearing how he played, especially when he hit a home run. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and treasured her two cats. She was loved by many and is missed already.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George Mayo; and her brothers, Horace, Harlan, and Brooks Patterson.
Survivors include her children, William Mayo of Brandon, MS and Diane Mayo of Florence, MS; her sisters, Evelyn Hailey (E. B.) of Boyd, Alabama, Earlean Grissom of Louisville, MS, Dean Sciples (Ralph) of DeKalb, MS, Ruth Anderson (Louis) of Waverly, TN, and Eunice Patterson of Shauqualak, MS; his grandson, Craig Mayo (Nikki) of Brandon, MS; and two great-grandchildren, Logan Mayo and Savannah Mayo; and two brothers in law, Jim Mayo (Tommie) of Clinton, MS and Harold Mayo (Malese) of Reeds Spring, MO.
