Helen Scott Ogletree, 83, passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at Golden Triangle Baptist Hospital in Columbus after a lengthy illness. Services are 2 pm Sunday, June 5, 2011 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon with Rev. Gary White of Parkhill Baptist Church in Jackson officiating.
Mrs. Ogletree was a native of Standing Pine, MS and was born July 9, 1927 to Odus and Ophelia Scott. She married Andrew Ogletree October 13, 1944 in Jackson and spent most of her life in Clinton. Mrs. Ogletree taught Sunday School and held many positions in her churches at Van Winkle, Morrison Heights and Parkhill Baptist. She worked for 25 years at Jackson Welding as a bookkeeper.
Survivors include her sons, Dr. Benjamin F. Ogletree and wife Bennie of Columbus, David S. Ogletree of Mendenhall and Paul C. Ogletree of Brandon; sisters, Ernestine Rogers of Brandon, Mabel Coats of Pearl, Sue Freeny of Standing Pine and Lucille Peoples of Mendenhall; brother, Bert Scott of Standing Pine; grandchildren, Dr. Brittany Ogletree Larkin of Millbrook, AL and Benjamin Blake Ogletree of Columbus; great grandchildren, Ava and Olivia Larkin of Millbrook, AL.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew and son, Joseph A. Ogletree.
Pallbearers are Blake Ogletree, Jonathan Larkin, Marcus Peoples, Bobby Armstrong, Don Scott, Chuck Mangum, Hank Bennett and Scott Coats. Honorary pallbearers are David and Dixie Keyes, Barbara Gates, Chris Lachapello and friends at Parkhill Baptist Church.
