Mrs. Helen Frances Dale Rochinski, a native of Columbia, MS, was born January 8, 1922, and went to be with the Lord on January 4, 2017, after a brief illness.

Visitation will be at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Forest on Saturday, January 6, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.

There will be a visitation at Hathorn Funeral Home in Columbia, on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. followed by funeral services at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Columbia.

Helen was a long-time resident of Columbia and more recently Forest, where she resided with her daughter and son-in-law.  She was the youngest of four children born to Sam B. and Allie May Jones Dale.  She graduated from Columbia High School and Draughon’s Business School.  She worked at the U.S. Marine Corps Headquarters in Washington, DC, during WWII where she met her future husband Edward Rochinski.  They married in Mississippi and made their home in Columbia where she had a career at the Selective Service System of the federal government.  After her retirement she enjoyed many hobbies and activities up until her death.  Some of those included senior bowling, where she won numerous medals in the National Senior Olympics, playing bridge and dominoes, exercising, gardening, cooking, sewing and making quilts.  She was an active member of Forest Baptist Church.  She was blessed to have been able to be involved in the lives of her 5 grandchildren as well as her 12 great- grandchildren.  She was dearly loved by them all.

She is survived by her daughters Barbara Broome (David) of Baton Rouge, LA, and Margaret Chance (Tony) of Forest, MS; her grandchildren Randy Broome (Missy) of Vicksburg, MS; Lindsay Nixon (Eric) of Cullman, AL; Rebecca Broome, Abbeville, LA; Haley Bounds (Corey) of Newton, MS; and Drew Chance (Candace), Decatur, MS.  Great-grandchildren are Macy, Bo, and Brooks Broome; Kase, Lily Claire, and Lakynn Nixon; Brantley Broome; Maggie, Chance, and Brady Bounds; Logan and Keeton Chance.  She is also survived by 3 special nieces and one nephew.

In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband Edward to whom she was married for 52 years and brothers Lawrence Dale and Sam B. Dale, Jr. and sister Katherine McCown.

Helen was an amazing woman who was an inspiration to many.  She was an example of selfless love, humility, and dignity.  She had a true servant’s heart and will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege to know her.
