Helen Delores Roberts

March 15, 1941 — June 28, 2015

Helen Delores Wright Roberts, also known as “Gonny”, “Mimi”, and “Granny” passed away Sunday, June 28, 2015 in Brandon MS, at the age of 74.
Helen is survived by her husband, Gordon, and four children; Karen McKlemurry (Ron) of Florence MS, Ken Roberts (Pam), Mike Roberts (Tammy), and Scott Roberts all of Brandon MS, and her grandchildren, Stephen McKlemurry (Jennifer), Seth Roberts, Becca Roberts, Jordan Roberts, David Roberts, Jodie Roberts, and Zoe Roberts, one great-grandson, Brayden Slaughter, and her sister, Evalynn Hathorn (Richard) of Starkville MS. She is preceded in death by her parents, HL “Red” Wright, Hazel Kennedy Wright, and her brother, Lavoy Wright, of Starkville MS.
Helen was born on March 15, 1941 in Starkville MS, to HL “Red” and Hazel Wright. She graduated from Starkville High School.
Helen excelled in several career paths. When her own children were young, Helen was a homemaker who provided daycare and afterschool care for a number of children, who knew her as “Miss Helen.” Later, Helen worked as a Legal Secretary. When her husband, Gordon Roberts, became a minister, Helen served the Lord faithfully in the position of Minister’s Wife at the Bradley Church of God in Bradley, MS, and the Mitchell Chapel Church of God in Poplarville, MS.
Helen was a very caring person, who always enjoyed ministering to children and people who faced challenges. She had a particular burden for the local Teen Challenge ministry, and enjoyed giving to their ministry, and visiting with them whenever possible.
Visitation will be Monday, June 29 from 5:00 to 8:00 at Ott and Lee in Brandon, and Tuesday, June 30 at 1:00, with a funeral to follow at 2:00 at Ott and Lee, and burial at Brandon Memorial Gardens in Brandon MS. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Teen Challenge, PO Box 5192, Brandon MS 39047.
