Henry D. Golden

Henry D. Golden (88) of Clifton, MS peacefully went to be with his Savior on Saturday March 1, 2025, at Lackey Memorial Hospital after a two-week hospitalization in Jackson following a fall. Henry was the only child of Henry C. Golden of Walnut Grove and Della (Davis) Golden of Waynesboro. He was born on January 23,1937 in Walnut Grove, MS.

Henry is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary A. (Walker) Golden of Clifton, MS and by his daughter, Dr. Kim Golden of Pine Bluff, Arkansas. He is also survived by grandson, Mark McKenzie (Brandon, MS) two great-granddaughters, Christian McKenzie (Gulf Shores, AL) and Cailin McKenzie (Summerdale, AL), and a sister-in-law, Pansy Walker McKenzie (Florence, MS).

After returning in 1962 from two years of active service in Germany with the U.S. Army, Henry and Mary made Jackson, MS, their home for many years before relocating to the Clifton community three years ago. Henry earned a law degree from the Mississippi College School of Law and retired from both the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) and the Mississippi Army National Guard.

His favorite hobbies included “piddling” -as he would say - on his tractors and other machines around the house and working on projects around the property with his friend Jimmy. He also enjoyed listening to his two dogs run everything from raccoons to rabbits to deer around the woods near his home.

Visitation for Henry Golden will be Thursday, March 6, from 6:00-8:00 pm at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton, MS. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, March 7, with visitation beginning at 10:00 am. Following the service, burial will take place at Clifton Baptist Church cemetery.
