Henry Melichar

Funeral services for Mr. Henry Melichar will be conducted Wednesday afternoon, January 28, 2015 at 1:30 P.M. from the Forest Presbyterian Church.

Visitation will be prior to the funeral services beginning at 12 noon at the church.


Interment will be in the presence of immediate family members.


Mr. Melichar, age 90, and a resident of Forest, passed away Saturday, January 24, 2015 at the Lackey Memorial Hospital. He was born in Chicago, IL on April 21, 1924 to his parents, Dr. Henry S. Melichar and Emily Kolar Melichar who preceded him in death. Mr. Melichar was a longtime resident of Forest and was retired general manager of Sunbeam Corporation. He was a member of the Forest Rotary Club, the Forest Lions Club, and former President of the Forest Country Club where he was a member. He was a member of the Forest Presbyterian Church. Mr. Henry served his country during World War II in the Army Air Corps as 2nd Lieutenant and pilot. He enjoyed the game of golf and was a spectator of sports, especially football.

He is survived by his wife of over 66 years: Mrs. Joyce Christian Melichar of Forest; four children: Randolph Melichar of Birmingham, AL; Melinda Koerber of Hattiesburg; Ken Melichar of Madison and Alan Melichar of Raleigh, NC; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother: George I. Melichar of Laurel and two nieces.



In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Forest Presbyterian Church, 337 East First St., Forest, MS 39074.


Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest.
