Herbert Lee

Herbert Wilson Lee, age 91, a resident of Brandon, MS passed away Sunday, June 21, 2020 at home surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, June 25, 2020 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS with interment in Brandon Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 9:30 am-10:45 am Thursday, June 25, 2020 at the funeral home.

Mr. Lee was born on March 15, 1929 in Simpson County, MS to Walter Rufus Lee and Susie Ann Smith Lee. He was married to Johnnie N. Hankins Lee. He worked 34 years for Stone Container. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of Brandon Baptist Church in Brandon, MS. He loved his family very much and spending time with them brought great joy to his life. He had a great passion for working outdoors in his garden. He will be missed by all who loved and knew him.

Mr. Lee was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Rufus Lee and Susie Ann Smith Lee; his granddaughter, Nicole Marie Lee; brothers, Ed Lee and Herman Lee; sisters, Mildred Lee, Claudell Lee Sherman, Mary Nell “Macy” Lee, Virginia Lee Ramshur Gallagher, Jean Lee Crawford and an infant sister.

Mr. Lee is survived by his wife of 64 years, Johnnie N. Hankins Lee; son, Kenneth D. Lee; daughter, Melissa L. Holyfield Buckley (Paul); sisters, Peggy Grubbs and Geraldine Stephens; grandchildren, Will (Jessica) Holyfield, Kristina Holyfield, Jeffery Lee, Gregory Lee and Abigail Lee; great grandchildren, Gaston Holyfield, Sadie Holyfield and Ruby Holyfield; many nieces, nephews  and a host of friends.
