Herbert G. Stampley, 93, passed away Sun. Dec. 9, 2018 at the Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, MS. Visitation will be held on Wed. Dec. 12, 2018 from 12pm-2pm at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Funeral Services are 2pm on Wed. Dec. 12, 2018 at the Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel in Brandon, MS with burial to follow in the Lakewood Memorial Park Cemetery in Jackson, MS.
Mr. Stampley was born in Bentonia, MS and has been a resident of Brandon, MS for the past 20 years. He was a former charter member and an ordained deacon at Oak Forest Baptist Church in Jackson, MS and was currently a member of First Baptist Church in Brandon, MS. Mr. Stampley was Vice President of Claims with Mississippi Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company and Claim Manager with Southern Farm Bureau Casualty Insurance Company from which he retired from after 36 years of service. He served his country with the U.S. Navy and was a Naval Air Corp. Petty Officer serving in the South Pacific during World War II. Mr. Stampley loved traveling to the North Carolina Mountains, farming, working on tractors and spending time outdoors.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine Stampley; four daughters, Gail Young (Sammy), Linda Miller, Shirley Poirrier and Barbara Barnes (Craig); two sisters, Dorothy Porter (James) and Mary Dann Stampley; four grandchildren, Lori Ragab, Wendy Rhea, Greg Miller, Todd Miller and 12 great grandchildren. Mr. Stampley is preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Eloise Stampley; two sisters, Majorie Kirk and Betty Alexander and two brothers, Bobby Stampley and Norris Stampley.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Brandon, MS Building Fund at 309 S. College St. Brandon, MS 39042.
