Hewitt Gene Smith, 85, joined his Heavenly Father on Friday, December 18, 2015. Visitation will begin at 4pm Monday, Dec. 21, 2015, until the 6pm funeral service at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Graveside services will be 2pm Tuesday at Magnolia City Cemetery in Magnolia, AR.
Hewitt was born on April 7, 1930, to Dave and Arlene Welborn Smith in Louisiana. He loved to hunt and fish and was a huge LSU fan. He moved to Mississippi in 1963 while working for Superior Supply Company of Shreveport, LA (1952-1987). He then began working for Champion Supply of Houston, TX until his retirement in 2008.
Mr. Smith was a member of Crossgates Baptist Church and Bill Ratcliff Sunday School Class.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Smith; daughters, Donna Reynaud (Glen) and Debi Beckman (Pepper); 5 grandchildren, Melissa Foley (Damian), Julie Solis (Javier), Kyle Beckman, Korey Beckman and Sarah Beckman; 2 great grandchildren, Atticus and Camille Solis; he is also survived by his brother, Glen Smith (Diane). Pallbearers will be his grandchildren and great grandchildren. The members of Bill Ratcliff’s SS Class will be honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bill Ratcliff Sunday School Class at Crossgates Baptist Church or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
